Cllr Geary has the following update regarding the planned closure of Long Street Road:
Following the Parish Council Open meeting last night I, along with Cllr Martin Palmer from the Parish Council, agreed to challenge MK Council Officers as to the necessity, purpose and duration of the proposed road closure in Long Street Road, Hanslope. A meeting was not possible this morning but following numerous telephone conversations and email exchanges the following information is now available.
The road will be closed completely in both directions from 9.30am on Thursday 19th October 2017 and will reopen no later than midnight on Thursday 26th October 2017. The closure will be for both vehicles and pedestrians. No extensions to this time will be granted. There will be an electronically illuminated sign giving the latest up to date information situated on either side of the closure. Signing of the closure will also be in place in Hartwell, Salcey Forest, Tathall End, Hanslope Park and on the triangle at Castlethorpe.
It is not possible to undertake the necessary works without a full closure, highways officers have exhausted every possibility and have not taken this decision lightly. It is due to the both the depth of the excavation and the size of the services being installed that this is necessary.
There will be a revised bus route and details published within the next 48 hours and I will publish that as soon as it becomes available. Inevitably there will be some timetable changes.
If there are any queries that I can help with please email me on Andrew.geary@milton-keynes.
